Samsung can’t seem to catch a break right now as the problems with its Galaxy Note 7 still aren’t coming to an end. After spending over a month recalling, replacing, and refunding the device, Samsung slowly started resuming sales of its latest flagship all over the world. Unfortunately, for the South Korean smartphone maker, the problems resumed as well. As of today, we’ve already heard several reports of the safe Note 7 units catching fire all over the world. Not unexpectedly, Samsung seems to be going into damage control mode once again as the consumer electronics manufacturer has allegedly halted production of the new Note 7 models and numerous industry experts are already speculating that an unprecedented second recall of the device is on the horizon.
While it may seem like it’s still too early to talk about a second recall, the latest developments in Netherlands seem to lend some credibility to this prediction. Namely, SamMobile reports that the Dutch division of Samsung has just halted all Galaxy Note 7 shipments despite the fact that the pre-ordered devices were supposed to start shipping today. The phablet never officially started selling in Netherlands due to the fact that Samsung issued a global recall before that. Now, it’s unclear whether the Dutch branch of the company is unwilling to take any chances or whether it was ordered to wait but all sources agree that Samsung Netherlands is still waiting for Seoul to greenlight the shipments.
It’s anyone’s guess as to how long that will take though latest reports suggest that Samsung Netherlands is preparing a statement which it will be issuing later today. All in all, this is definitely not great news for neither Samsung nor its Dutch customers who were patient enough to wait an extra month just to get the phone they’ve pre-ordered. The company has yet to release the findings of its latest investigations regarding “safe” Note 7 units but the sole fact that there have already been at least five reports of these devices catching fire or exploding in the US alone definitely suggests that this ordeal is far from over. All in all, this is a huge hit to the Samsung Galaxy brand it remains to be seen how will the company recover from it.
