Google launched the Pixel and Pixel XL devices just last week and currently both devices are already up for pre-order in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, Canada and India. While the pre-ordered devices were expected to start shipping out by the end of this month in most of the countries, at least in Australia, it looks like the pre-ordered Pixel devices have already started shipping out to customers. Multiple users in Australia, who pre-ordered their Pixel from Telstra, are now reporting that their orders have started shipping out, while some are claiming that they already have their pre-ordered Pixel phone in their possession.
A Reddit user goes by the name ‘woolarse’ posted in the subreddit /r/Android that Telstra has now started sending out pre-ordered Pixel phones in Australia and he has already got his device delivered before the expected date, which then also confirmed by many users who also pre-ordered from Telstra and now already have their devices delivered to them before the expected date. In the same thread, a user who claims to be a Telstra representative went on to say that he is not surprised that pre-orders are shipping out earlier than expected as somehow, Telstra always manages to ship out pre-orders a week in advance. In any case, it’s now confirmed that some lucky users in Australia already have their Pixel devices in their hands. It’s also worth noting that only Pixel phones that are pre-ordered from Telstra are shipping out so those who pre-ordered from other retailers are out of luck and will likely only get their devices as per the ship date that will be or is listed. Telstra is an exclusive carrier in Australia for the Pixel and Pixel smartphones. Both phones are still available for pre-orders on Telstra at price starting at $85 a month on select Telstra Go plans.
The Pixel and Pixel XL are quite decent phones and come with built-in Google Assistant, best in class camera and top notch hardware. Specification wise, the Pixel packs a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display while Pixel XL packs a 5.5-inch QHD display. Under the hood, both devices are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 CPU and Adreno 530 GPU. For optics, both devices feature a 12.3-megapixel camera with an LED flash on the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. Both devices come pre-loaded with latest Android 7.1 (Nougat) software out of the box.
