The Moto Z Play is one of the latest smartphones to come from Moto and Lenovo and is part of the newly revised Moto Z family of devices. This of course, was a range which originally became available to buy as Droid editions which did mean that they were exclusive to Verizon. However, since that early exclusivity, the Moto Zs have now started to become more widely available.
When it comes to the Moto Z Play in particular, this is a smartphone which became available to pre-order through the likes of Amazon back in September and only this week saw its ability to be customized through Moto Maker also going live. Although, the Moto Maker listing is again a pre-order listing, so while you can order your customized Moto Z Play, it does not seem as though it is shipping just yet. That said, if you do want to get hold of the Moto Z Play fairly sharpest, it does seem that after a month of being on pre-order a number of online retailers including Amazon and Best Buy are now listing the Moto Z Play as in stock and ready to ship.
Regardless of whether you do order from Amazon, Best Buy or directly from Moto, it does seem the default price for the Moto Z Play in the US is $449.99. This is the unlocked model and is set to work on all GSM networks including T-Mobile and AT&T. In terms of the specs, these are already widely confirmed but as a recap, the unlocked Moto Z Play comes packing a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Inside, you will find 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, microSD card support, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) and of course, the ability to make use of Moto Mods. The obvious downside with buying from Amazon and Best Buy is that you will not be able to customize the device at all, with only the standard 32GB Lunar Grey model currently available. Although on the plus side, Amazon Prime members can take advantage of free one-day shipping so any orders placed now will be delivered much quicker than elsewhere.
