Many people are waiting for Xiaomi to introduce their new flagship phablet, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2. This handset is due to arrive later this month, or next month at the very latest. That being said, Xiaomi had introduced the Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus handsets quite recently, these two devices are Xiaomi’s new flagship smartphones, and are already available for purchase in China. Having that in mind, the Mi Note 2 is not the only Xiaomi-branded smartphone that leaked recently, the Xiaomi Mi 5C also surfaced quite recently. Well, that has surfaced once again, but it carries a different name, it’s called the Xiaomi ‘Meri’, well, that is its codename.
If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll get to see quite a few real life images of the Xiaomi Meri. This phone resembles the Xiaomi Mi 5 when you look at it from the front, very few people could see the difference between this phone and the Mi 5 actually. The phone’s physical home key / fingerprint scanner is once again placed below the display, and it’s very thin as well, it could be the exact same sensor that Xiaomi utilized on the Mi 5. The company’s ‘Mi’ branding is not present in the upper left corner of this device, Xiaomi might include it in the final model though. The back side of this smartphone is considerably different than the one on the Mi 5, as it is made out of metal (for the most part), the top and bottom strips seem to be made out of glass.
In addition to its images, we also get to see the phone’s partial specs thanks to AnTuTu and Geekbench. The device has managed to score 63,581 points on AnTuTu, which is way below what top of the line SoCs are able to offer, which leads us to believe this phone is going to ship with a mid-range SoC. The device will sport a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display according to AnTuTu, and we’ll get a Mali-T864 GPU here, which could indicate this phone will be fueled by a Rockchip SoC. Now, Geekbench did reveal that the device will sport 3GB of RAM, and that an octa-core SoC running at 1.4GHz will fuel this smartphone. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed here, and the device has managed to score 758 points in Geekbench’s single-score test. Now, as far as the multi-core test is concerned, the phone scored 3,105 points.
