Ahead of OnePlus 3T Debut, the OnePlus 3 Goes Out of Stock

This week, OnePlus is expected to announce a new flagship smartphone, in the OnePlus 3T. The announcement is set for November 15th, and according to the rumor mill it appears to be a pretty minimal update compared to the OnePlus 3. It’s rumored to be sporting the updated Snapdragon 821 processor, along with an updated camera sensor on the back of the device, and that’s about it actually. A pretty small update to the OnePlus 3, which is likely why they just added a “T” to the name here (almost like going the iPhone 6S route).

Ahead of the announcement of the OnePlus 3T, however, the OnePlus 3 has gone out of stock. This likely is due to the OnePlus 3T being announced this week. It’s something that happens quite often with smartphone makers, before announcing a new device. So this shouldn’t be a surprise. At this point, there’s no word on whether OnePlus will restock the OnePlus 3 later this week or month, after the OnePlus 3T is announced and made available.

OnePlus said earlier this year that they were going to be focusing on only making flagship devices this year, instead of some other smaller devices, like the OnePlus X that they debuted last year. So instead of creating a smaller, high-end device, OnePlus is releasing a device that is pretty close to their existing flagship. Now that is all according to the rumor mill, so we could be in for a bit of a surprise this week when the company finally debuts the device. It doesn’t happen often, but there are times where smartphone makers like OnePlus do surprise us with their announcements. The OnePlus 3T is slated to be $80 more than the OnePlus 3, coming in at $479. Which is going to be a pretty tough sell for the company, if there are no surprises in what’s new with this device. Considering the Snapdragon 821 is a pretty small upgrade over the Snapdragon 820 processor that is in the OnePlus 3. It would be a bit more plausible if they were upgrading the screen in the OnePlus 3T to a QHD or 2K panel however, but it’s rumored to be the same 1080p panel.
