Google’s smart speaker has recently launched, and not long after it began showing up for people who had pre-ordered the device, the Google Store began selling the bases for Google Home. For those that are unaware, the Google Home was initially announced back during Google I/O as a sort of answer to Amazon’s Echo smart speaker in the IoT market. At the time of the unveiling, Google revealed that you would be able to customize the speaker with different colored bases to give it a personalized look and feel. These are now available to pick up from the Google Store for just $20 which isn’t too bad if you aren’t really fond of the standard color base that comes with it in the box.
Google Home was officially up for sale as of November 4th, so it’s only been a few days since it was released and Google has already started selling the bases for those who have either picked up the device or considered grabbing one for their own home. At a total of $149 for both the Google Home speaker as well as the base to swap out, it’s not too bad of a deal to get the device that truly fits best into your home decor.
Even without the bases, of course, Google Home fits into the home decor of almost any user rather nicely, but the bases add a nice touch of customization for those who may be wanting to match their personal style or a color that is already prominent throughout the room where the Google Home will be stationed. The Google Home bases will come in six different options, which includes three fabric bases with different colors – Mango, Marine, and Violet. There will also be three metal bases in different colors that include Carbon, Copper, and Snow. $20 is the starting price for any of the fabric bases that are available, while the Metal bases will cost just a little bit more at $40 each. While the metal might look a little bit more premium to some users, the fabric colors might be a little bit more fun and there’s also the fact that they cost half as much. Whatever your tastes, all of the bases look to be in stock so you can pick up any of the six.
