With the plug pulled on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 over a month ago, Samsung is now trying to sell the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to consumers by offering both devices in new color options. Just a few weeks back, the South Korean company released a Blue Coral variant of the Galaxy S7 Edge, a color which was first featured on the Galaxy Note 7. Not too long after that, the company launched a Pink Blossom variant of the Galaxy S7, though it is currently only available in its home country of South Korea. Two days ago, it was reported that Samsung is gearing up to release a ‘Glossy Black’ variant of the Galaxy S7 Edge and now, images of the upcoming device has surfaced online.
The Glossy Black Galaxy S7 Edge is said to rival Apple’s Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus once released, though it is unsure whether the new device will be scratch prone like Apple’s handsets. The images of the Glossy Black handset first surfaced on Weibo, a popular Chinese social media site, and seems to be have been posted by a Samsung official based in China. The Glossy Black smartphone is expected to hit the market sometime in December and it is very similar to the Black Onyx Galaxy S7 Edge which debuted in March. However, the Glossy Black Galaxy S7 Edge doesn’t appear to have a matte finish, instead it has a glossy back which gives it a shine. It hasn’t been confirmed whether this device will be launched worldwide, or will face a similar launch to the Blue Coral Galaxy S7 Edge and released in select markets only. The upcoming Glossy Black Galaxy S7 Edge is expected to retain identical hardware to the currently available colors, which includes a 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage, with support for expandable storage through a microSD card slot. This handset is expected to be fueled by an Exynos 8890 SoC or Snapdragon 820 processor, depending on which region you reside in. The 12-megapixel camera (f/1.7 aperture) is placed on the back of the Galaxy S7 Edge, while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper up front.
