Google Play Adds a "Trending" Section in Entertainment

Google is always looking to add some new features to the Play Store, usually in an effort to make it easier to find things, which equates to users spending more money in Google Play. Especially when it comes down to entertainment. Many forget that Google Play also has movies, TV shows, music, books and more. And this newest feature that Google has added to the Play Store is part of the entertainment section and it does appear to be available for everyone right now, and not in limited testing like these features typically are.

What Google has done is that they have added a Trending section to Google Play, on the Entertainment side of things. To access it, simply open the Google Play Store and then select the “Entertainment” tab on the home page of the store. Scroll down a bit and you’ll see the trending section. This section shows you what’s trending on the Google Play Store. Right now, in the trending section we see Bruno Mars, Doctor Strange and Hacksaw Ridge. Clicking on one of these items, you’ll be greeted with more information about these items. For example, Doctor Strange has information from Business Insider who reviewed the movie. Now that’s not all that’s included here, we also have a section about the movie, the ability to watch the trailer and then the cast below that. There’s also a popular on YouTube section, showing you videos from the cast’s press tour promoting the movie as well as the trailers. You can also listen to the official soundtrack of the movie. So you literally have just about everything you need to know about a movie, just in case you hadn’t heard of it before.

Now this trending section is much different from the trending section in the Apps side of the Play Store. And that’s for good reason. When it comes to apps, you don’t need all of this information, and typically all of that information isn’t available. But when it comes to movies and other things, there’s a lot more information available, so Google has made it available for everyone to check out.
