Android as an operating system has many things going for it, some things monumental and some things rather small, yet still appreciated. By association other Google services provide an enjoyable experience as well, like the web version of Google Play. As Android devices have been around for years, those who have been using devices that run on the Android operating system will no doubt have amassed a large number of phones and tablets to which they have attached their Google account. These devices get lumped up in the My Devices section on Google Play on the web, and although these have stuck around since the beginning it looks like they are now starting to be removed.
Not just any and all devices of course, but old, unused devices. If you never visit Google Play on the web, the My Devices list may not matter much to you. For anyone that often does hit up the site, though, seeing the My Devices section full of phones and tablets that you no longer use can be a little bit annoying. This can be amplified a little bit if you frequently download apps and games from Google Play on the web, as the dropdown list where you select which device to install on will essentially show any device that was tied to your Google account. Now, you can remove these devices from the list of devices that are available for install, but this wouldn’t be needed if the devices simply weren’t there any longer.
While these do appear to be getting removed from the My Devices section for some, it doesn’t look like they’re being removed for all Google accounts which have old Android devices attached. That said, it’s entirely possible that Google is slowly rolling through the list of accounts in this regard and moving devices little by little. Given the nature of things, cleaning up the My Devices list is not likely high priority compared to some of the other things that have to do with Android, Google Play, and other Google services which are available on Android, so naturally it might take a little while before the majority of or all Android users notice that their My Devices sections have been slimmed down.
