Google's Daydream App Is Now Available In The Play Store

Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AG) are becoming more and more interesting. We’ve seen quite a few virtual reality headsets hit the market in the last couple of years, and quite a few people seem to react well to such technology, as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive really managed to get them interested. On the other hand, Augmented Reality (AG) is also developing at its own pace, and the Pokemon GO game that was released earlier this year became an instant success, partial due to its Augmented Reality flare.

That being said, you probably know that Google introduced their very own virtual reality platform during Google I/O, but the company did not release it back then. Well, the official daydream application is now available in the Google Play Store for those of you who want to install it. A number of Daydream VR apps actually launched in the Google Play Store in the last 24 hours, and the company’s official app is now official as well. Google’s Daydream View headsets are already on the way to some Pixel owners, and those of you who pre-ordered the device, well, it will ship your way starting tomorrow it seems. Now, one thing to keep in mind before you download the Daydream app, this is only a showcase for Google’s Daydream tech, Google had also released the Google VR Services app, so keep that in mind.

So, what can you do with the Daydream app? Well, once you fire it up and hook up the Daydream View to your smartphone, you’ll be able to access a sort of a homescreen for your Daydream-compatible content. You’ll get to see a virtual app list like the one Google demonstrated back in May, and also access all the content through this application. Another thing worth mentioning is that the Google Pixel and Pixel XL are the only two compatible phones with Google Daydream, at the moment, so only those phones have access to the Daydream app which is linked down below, so don’t be surprised if you get the ‘This app is incompatible with all of your devices.’ message in the Google Play Store.
