Taiwanese tech company HTC on Thursday, launched the Desire Pro smartphone in India, and announced that it would bring its latest premium handset to the country next month. Called the HTC 10 Evo, the device is actually a tweaked version of the HTC Bolt that is currently available on Sprint for U.S. customers. The company is yet to announce anything regarding the price of its upcoming premium smartphone, but the device was earlier launched in Taiwan at a price of NT$17,990 ($561) for the 32GB model and NT$19,900 ($624) for the 64GB model. In its home country, HTC offers the handset in Gunmetal, Silver and Gold color options, but it isn’t immediately known if all three colors will make it to Indian shores once the device is finally made available for purchase in the country.
The HTC 10 Evo features a 5.5-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440) display panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The handset has an aluminum build, and comes with IP57 certification, rendering it dust and water resistant. Curiously, though, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, which has taken a lot of heat over the past couple of years for its thermal management issues. The smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage, and also packs a dedicated microSD slot that supports cards of up to 256GB in capacity. The device runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box, and comes with features like split-screen view, free unlimited photo storage with the Google Photos app and has the Google Duo video-calling app pre-installed.
Coming to the imaging options, the HTC 10 Evo sports a 16-megapixel rear-facing primary camera that comes with an f/2.0 aperture, OIS (optical image stabilization), PDAF (phase detection autofocus) and a dual-LED flash. As for the front-facing camera, it comes with an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture that should be good enough for selfies and video chats. One of the more remarkable things about the smartphone is that it is bundled with USB Type-C headphones. The handset also supports HTC BoomSound Adaptive Audio and comes with a front-facing fingerprint scanner that the company claims is capable of unlocking the device in just 0.2 seconds.
