The HTC Bolt, also called the HTC 10 Evo, started to surface in leaked images two months ago. Since then, more (unofficial) details of the phone have been coming out in the open, the most recent of which being the rumored presence of Android 7.0 Nougat, the Snapdragon 810 chipset and a 5.5-inch QHD display. Following these leaks, people naturally began to expect HTC will announce the next-generation smartphone in October. To everyone’s dismay, it did not happen. But a new report from ePrice seems to give us some hope that the HTC Bolt could soon see the light of day, possibly in the later part of this month.
According to ePrice, the upcoming smartphone from HTC is likely to be available to pre-order beginning in late November at least in Taiwan initially. While the report must be taken with the usual pinch of salt, previous rumors could lend some sort of legitimacy to it. With that in mind, it is worth recapping what recent leaks tell about the phone’s design and specs. In order to avoid confusion, it must first be made clear that the upcoming handset will be called HTC Bolt in the United States, where it is expected to be available exclusively on Sprint, and HTC 10 Evo in other markets. The device is reportedly ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack, seemingly to follow suit on the latest iPhone models. But HTC could not accomplish this without possibly raising some eyebrows. In terms of what the HTC Bolt packs inside, rumor has it that the upcoming phone will borrow heavily from the HTC 10. It is supposed to sport a display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, the phone is said to incorporate 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that is expandable via a microSD card. The Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box is also supposed to be overlaid with a custom Sense UI.
Although it seems to bear a close resemblance to the HTC 10, at least we can have the confidence that the upcoming HTC Bolt won’t disappoint in terms of performance. While that remains to be seen, all we can do now is wait for the official announcement from the Taiwanese manufacturer anytime soon.
