Huawei has introduced several new devices during their press conference in Munich, including two new flagship phablets, the Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design. These two smartphones are high-end offerings by Huawei, and even though they’re made from similar materials, they look quite a bit different on the outside, mainly because of Mate 9 Porsche Design’s curved display, and the home button which is placed below the display. The two phones are similar in terms of specs, though the Mate 9 Porsche Design packs quite a bit more punch, and it is also a limited edition smartphone, unlike the Mate 9.
Having that in mind, we’ve already talked at length about these two phones and their specifications, and it’s time to see where do we stand when the availability is concerned. The Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design will be available (at first) in China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand and United Arab Emirates. These are only the first-wave launch markets it seems. We’re not sure whether the Porsche Design handset will become available in all of those markets, but the Mate 9 surely will. The Huawei Mate 9 is priced at €699, while the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design will set you back €1395 should you choose to buy it. The Huawei Mate 9 comes in Black, Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown and Ceramic White color variants, while the Mate 9 Porsche Design launches in Graphite Black only.
The Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design are both fueled by the Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor, which is Huawei’s all-new flagship SoC. This processor is paired with the Mali-G71 GPU for graphics, and we’re looking at a 16nm chip here. The two devices also share quick charging tech (SuperCharge), have the same dual camera setup on the back (21MP & 12MP camera sensors with Leica’s lenses on top), and both ship with Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.0 out of the box. The Huawei Mate 9 features a 5.9-inch fullHD display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while the Mate 9 Porsche Design comes with a 5.5-inch QHD curved AMOLED panel, 6GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage.
