Huawei Mate 9 Specifications

After months and months of rumors and leaks, Huawei has finally introduced their flagship phablet in Munich, the Huawei Mate 9. The company’s all new smartphone actually resembles its predecessors, the Huawei Mate 9, quite a bit actually, but it’s far more powerful. The Mate 9 is made out of metal, and we’ve already covered the initial announcement for this smartphone, click here if you’d like to check that out. That being said, we’re here to take a closer look at the specs of this phablet, so, let’s get to it.

The Huawei Mate 9 is a rather big device, and that’s not exactly a surprise considering it sports a 5.9-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080, 373ppi) 2.5D curved glass display. The Mate 9 ships with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage (up to 256GB via a microSD card). Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor is here to fuel the Mate 9, this is a 16nm, 64-bit octa-core processor which ships with the Mali-G71 MP8 GPU, in case you were wondering, and it is clocked at 2.4GHz. This chip’s GPU is 180% faster than the Mali-T880 which was bundled with the Kirin 950 (Mate 8’s processor). You’ll find two cameras on the back of the Huawei Mate 9, the 20-megapixel (monochrome) and 12-megapixel (RGB, f/2.2 aperture, OIS) shooters which pack in Sony’s sensors and Leica’s lenses on top. The company has included an 8-megapixel snapper (f/1.9 aperture) on the front side of the device, for all your selfie and video call needs. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back of the Huawei Mate 9, below the phone’s camera sensors. The Huawei Mate 9 comes with an IR blaster, and a Type-C USB 2.1 port is located on the bottom of the phone.

Android 7.0 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Huawei Mate 9, and on top of it you’ll a new version of Huawei’s Android skin, Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0. The Huawei Mate 9 offers 4G LTE connectivity and also NFC. The Mate 9 comes in both Single SIM and Dual SIM variants, though both versions offer microSD card expansion. You can use the second nano SIM card slots in he Dual SIM variant in order to insert the microSD card, while the single SIM model comes with a dedicated microSD slot. The 4,000mAh battery is also a part of this package, and comes with SuperCharge, it takes 90min to charge this battery from 0% to 100%. The Huawei Mate 9 measures 156.9 x 78.9 x 7.9mm, while it weighs 190 grams, and also packs in a 3.5mm headphone jack, unlike the new iPhone devices and some of LeEco’s newest handsets.
