New Hilarious Google Duo Ad Features NBA Stars

Google Duo is Google’s latest take on a video calling app which debuted on the Google Play Store back in August and quickly took off among Android users. While the Mountain View-based tech giant has been delivering convenient Internet services for years, the company recently started paying more attention to properly advertising its products. This new focus on marketing is not only evident from the latest large-scale advertising campaign for the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel XL, but also from promotional campaigns for apps such as Google Duo.

Back in September, the Alphabet-owned firm debuted a set of hilarious YouTube videos featuring real-life doodles scribbled on everyday objects like socks, salt, pepper, peanut butter, jelly, and toothbrushes. A few days ago, Google released yet another video for the #BeADuo campaign, featuring Los Angeles Clippers’ Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, currently one of the most famous duos in the NBA. The promotional video is just over a minute long and shows what happens when the tandem mentioned above faces off against another iconic duo – that of ketchup and mustard. It’s a funny skit that really isn’t worth spoiling, so check it out in YouTube video which is embedded below, you can also check out the full playlist of ads for Duo.

As Google’s marketing team put it, Google Duo is a perfect app “for duos who can’t stay mad at each other,” which is a message you’ll understand better once you see the said hilarious video. The Mountain View-based Internet firm also pointed out that its latest video calling app allows for calls across Android and iOS and features live video previews, a somewhat unique feature on the apps market. All in all, Google is putting quite a few resources into promoting Google Duo. Apart from this marketing campaign, the company recently revealed that four upcoming Micromax budget smartphones will ship with a preinstalled version of its video calling app which has been receiving regular updates since release. So, if you’re on the lookout for an alternative video chat app and are exclusively interested in minimalistic experiences, Google Duo is definitely worth giving a shot.
