OpenTable: Restaurants Near Me isn’t just one of the best Android dining apps on the Play Store, it’s also an essential travel companion. If you happen to be on the move a lot and are often finding yourself in places you don’t know really well, OpenTable can be a life saver when it comes to locating quality restaurants. Better yet, apart from serving as a restaurant locator, this app is also capable of placing reservations and offering you exclusive discounts on meals.
Earlier this week, the app was updated to version 7.0.2.362 which introduces some rather interesting additions. The most important new feature debuted in the latest iteration of OpenTable is the so-called Discover menu. As the name suggests, Discover was designed to help you find new restaurants and locate unique cuisine based on a number of various factors. In other words, this feature was specifically designed for adventurers willing to try out new things regardless of whether they’re searching for a restaurant from the comfort of their homes or have gotten hungry halfway around the world.
The new Discover tab is split into seven categories. The New & Hot section is pretty self-explanatory as it identifies nearby restaurants which have both opened recently and boast high user scores. If you’re just interested in eating out at the hottest place in town, the Most Popular category will list all places that might be of interest to you. Similar to that, the My Favorites section compiles your most commonly visited establishments. The Dinner Tonight tab allows you to browse through places which are available for reservations on that night while the Special Features listing is designed to identify rather particular restaurants which offer some unique experiences. If you want to see what local OpenTable Insiders and gourmands suggest, all you have to do is click on the refined Editorial Picks category. Finally, if you don’t care about any of that and just want to eat something as fast as possible because you’re starving, the Discovery tab also features the Near Me Now section which lists restaurants closest to you which offer immediate seating.
All in all, this is a pretty major feature that will certainly be useful to people who like discovering new things or are simply traveling a lot. Last but not least, OpenTable is currently also celebrating its eighth anniversary, so if you launch the app by Tuesday, November 22nd, developers are promising to gift you with “something special.”
