Pokémon GO To Add 1v1 Trainer Battles In Upcoming Update

It looks like Pokémon GO may finally be getting some of the features that budding trainers have been clamoring for, as a new report concerning the upcoming update to the smash hit augmented reality game mentions that battles between trainers will be added into the game soon. The very nature of PvP gameplay is at the heart of the Pokémon franchise, and although it wasn’t immediately available in the very first Pokémon games that debuted on the original Nintendo Game Boy handheld, the feature later became a major focus on future versions of the game. Naturally, players of Pokémon GO expected this to be a part of the game on mobile devices, but it has yet to be added, with Niantic simply stating that they were planning on introducing the feature at some point.

The report, which comes from GamenGuide, states that more features are on route to the game as well, and should the trainer vs trainer battles feature pan out, players of the game will likely be very excited. The even better news, though, is that trainer vs trainer battles seemingly won’t be alone. The same report mentions that second-generation Pokémon will also be added into the game. This also isn’t the first that 2nd Gen Pokémon have come up, as it was rumored that they would soon be on their way to the game back on November 9th. As it stands right now, there is no detail on how many new Pokémon will be added.

That being said, Niantic has not confirmed these additions to the game, but the rumors have been circling on this particular change to the game a little while now. Alongside new gen 2 Pokémon it’s also said that baby Pokémon may be introduced with the ability to evolve them, and that the baby Pokémon will be replacing the egg evolution element of the game, which, if true, would mean no more having to hatch your eggs. Trading is also said to be coming in the next update, as are legendary Pokémon, both of which have been heavily requested as well. While none of these details are official till Niantic announces them, it might not be too long before the details are more clear, as the update is rumored to be landing next month, albeit without any mention of a potential exact date.
