Samsung Announces Samsung Pay Rewards, Launching This Week

Samsung Pay has proven to be quite the success for Samsung so far and has seen good rates of adoption in spite of only being available to a limited number of Samsung devices. Of course, part of its appeal is the fact that it can be used at more terminals and pay-points than other competing services, like Apple and Android Pay. Another reason for its appeal is that Samsung keeps added to its list of compatible places, as well as including new features. Speaking of which, Samsung has today announced the latest new Samsung Pay feature, Samsung Rewards.

This is something that had been rumored over the past few weeks and months although now the feature has become official. The gist of Samsung Rewards is that Samsung will reward Samsung Pay users each and every time they use Samsung Pay. So in the very shortest of terms, this is similar to a store, credit card, or company loyalty program. The more you used it, the more points you get and the more you can get for those points. Samsung notes that points can be redeemed for a variety of things including vouchers to be used at Samsung.com, Samsung products, and gifts cards for various retailers. Likewise, if you already have a credit card which offers you reward points, then Samsung says that will not change. In addition to gaining Samsung Rewards points, you will still receive your card issuer points as well. As Samsung puts it, you can ‘double dip’ with Samsung Rewards.

As to be expected, there will also be incentives to spend at particular times which can result in increased multiples of points (double, triple and quadruple), as well as limited-time bonuses. One which Samsung is starting immediately for those who sign up to the service before the end of the year – with those new users receiving double points on purchases made in November and December. Of course, this is only the launch period for Samsung Rewards and Samsung does note that like Samsung Pay in general, the program will expand in due course with other member benefits and features being announced over time. In the meantime though, for those looking to get in on the action, Samsung states the new Rewards feature will be going live this week for users in the US. So if you are a Samsung Pay user already, keep a look out for an update. If you are not, it might be time to give the service a try – providing you have a compatible device.
