Google’s Live Cases for the Pixel and Pixel XL have been available to buy since near the end of October, but it wasn’t until just earlier this week on November 7th that a couple of new live case options were made available, labeled as the Trends and Earth options. At the time these were only showing up on the Verizon website, which makes sense as they are an exclusive carrier of the Pixel and the Pixel XL. What was little more puzzling is that Google wasn’t showing these new live case designs themselves in the Google Store alongside all the other options that are already available. Today Google now has the Trends and Earth live cases on the Google Store.
That being said, you can’t actually buy these live cases just yet like you can the other already available options. Right now Google merely has product pages for them with a button that says “coming soon,” so unfortunately you can’t actually make a purchase. The Google Store isn’t alone here in this regard as Verizon’s web store lists them as coming soon as well, so it’s likely that the physical stock of these cases simply hasn’t arrived, or perhaps Google just has a time window they’re trying to stick to before they officially launch them.
To recap, the Trends live case will feature a companion live wallpaper that follows the top trending Google search topics, although the case itself simply comes in a couple of different colors to mimic the color schemes of asphalt and sunsets. The Earth live case on the other hand, feature designs based on three different images from Google Earth satellite imagery, and cycle through various Google Earth images for the companion live wallpaper. While there is no price listed for either of these on the Google Store on their direct product page right now, the prices are listed on the main accessories page and will be $49.99 for both the Trends and Earth live cases, so they’ll be about $10 more than the others. If you’re particularly fond of these two new case types compared to the others, you’ll still have a little bit of a wait to pick one up as Google unfortunately doesn’t mention any exact release date for them.
