Wileyfox is a company based in the UK who has become known for releasing some fairly competitive smartphones at fairly competitive prices. Speaking of which, the company today has announced the release of its latest smartphone offerings, the Swift 2 and the Swift 2 Plus. As their names suggest, these are follow-on devices to last year’s Wileyfox Swift smartphone and both new models, again look to offer a decent level of specs and build quality, but at a much more pocket-friendly price.
In terms of the specs, a lot of what in offer is common to both smartphones. So for instance, both the Wileyfox Swift 2 and the Swift 2 Plus come with a 5-inch display which makes use of a 1280 x 720 resolution and both displays come protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. Inside, Both smartphones are powered by the same 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor (clocking at 1.4 GHz) as well as the Adreno 505 GPU. Likewise, both devices make use of the same 2,700 mAh battery, USB Type-C connectivity and Quick Charge 3.0 support. Not forgetting of course, that like most of the other Wileyfox models, both the Swift 2 and the Swift 2 Plus come running on Cyanogen OS.
Where the two differ however, is in terms of the RAM, the storage and the cameras. The Swift 2 is a smartphone which comes loaded with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. On the camera side of things, this one comes equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera as well as an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. In contrast, the Swift 2 Plus comes packing 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Likewise, the rear camera has been boosted up to 16-megapixels, while the front-facing camera is the same 8-megapixel option.
For those thinking about picking up either of these devices, Wileyfox has confirmed that both the Swift 2 and the Swift 2 Plus are now already available to buy directly from the Wileyfox website, while also announces that Amazon availability will become available in due course. In terms of price, the Wileyfox Swift 2 is available to buy for £159, while the Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus does cost £189 for consumers in the UK.
