Xiaomi is a company that is well-known for being as competitive as possible when it comes to pricing. Another well-known trait of Xiaomi, is that they are not shy on releasing new products. In fact, as companies in the smartphone world go, they do have one of the most extensive product portfolios going. Speaking of which, it now looks as though the company has announced its latest new product, which marks another expansion for Xiaomi into a new field.
While Xiaomi does have headphones already available that you can buy, this new one is clearly designed to pick up on the current trend of exercise and sports-focused equipment. The headphones, which have now been introduced as the ‘Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset’, are ones which will be of benefit to those who are gym or exercise-oriented. Not only because they are lightweight (weighing only 17.8 grams) and Bluetooth-enabled (Bluetooth v4.1), but also thanks to their IPX4 sweat-proof certification. In addition, the battery inside (110 mAh) is one which Xiaomi notes will offer up to 7 hours of continuous playback (or 11 days when in standby) before needing to be changed again. In fact, Xiaomi also note that if you are pressed for time, a quick 10 minute charge will be enough to offer usage for an hour – enough time for a quick gym session. In terms of design, the Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset comes equipped with a hook-design which means they will neatly slot over the ear and will offer a better ability to stay in place when engaging in vigorous movement, like running, etc.
That said, with Xiaomi having a focus on being competitively-priced, it should not be much of a surprise to learn that these are designed with the same ethos in mind. In fact, they have been now confirmed as costing only ¥149 in China. Which in US terms, means they are priced at only $21.99. Unfortunately though, there are no details at the moment as to whether the Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset will become available to buy in international markets, including the US. At the moment, the only known availability information is that they will become available to buy from Xiaomi in China on November 11.
