Logitech may be known for their mice and keyboards, and possibly even webcams. But that’s not all that Logitech has in their portfolio. In recent years, they have been moving into the Internet of Things category, which includes Smart Home products. They have the Logitech Circle camera, but perhaps more interesting is the Logitech Harmony set of remote controls. Now for many people, another remote control isn’t that exciting. But what sets Logitech’s Harmony remotes apart is the fact that they can control just about any device in your home. Depending on the model you get, it can control up to 15 items. Which means you can literally have your ultimate remote control.
The Logitech Harmony has been pretty popular, but there’s another product that has been even more popular. That is Amazon’s Echo and Echo Dot. And now, the Logitech Harmony works even better with both of those devices – or really any device with Alexa built in. Logitech had already brought out some Alexa skills into their beta channels, but now all users in the US and UK can use these skills with the Logitech Harmony.
If you’ve been using Alexa for quite some time, then you can probably guess what kind of skills Alexa now has with the Logitech Harmony. They include the ability to adjust the volume on your TV, stereo or something else. Additionally, you can switch channels, playback controls for media and there is also a sleep timer. All you need to do is set up the skill in the Alexa app which is available on Android and iOS.
Logitech’s high-end Harmony remote is the Harmony Ultimate which can control up to 15 devices at a time. It has a customizable touch screen which makes it a pretty sweet remote to have in your hand. Additionally, you can set up to 50 favorite channels on the remote. Making it easy to switch to your favorite channels on your TV without having to remember the channel numbers. The Logitech Harmony Ultimate is also bundled with the Amazon Echo Dot, and it can often times be cheaper than buying them separate.
