Wind Mobile not only changed their name to Freedom Mobile, but the Shaw owned carrier has been in the news almost every day with news of changes – the latest being the new Freedom Wi-Fi app. With more and more businesses and public buildings offering free Wi-Fi, it is imperative we know how to find them to help save our precious data and the Freedom Wi-Fi app will do just that and more. The app will hook you up to over 65,000 hotspots across Western Canada to help save that data or give you a chance to stream that video or play those intense online games during lunch. All you need to do is configure your phone once for one of their hotspots, and you will automatically connect to Freedom’s Wi-Fi any time you are in a Freedom Wi-Fi hotspot.
After Wind Mobile changed their name, they also announced that the LG V20 would be their first ‘Future Ready” device to take on their new LTE network. Next, they brought in the more affordable ZTE Grand X 4 into the fold for those that want a mid-range phone with a mid-range price. Unfortunately, LTE did not launch as fast as Freedom Mobile was hoping for, so they lowered the price of their flagship LG V20 by $200 to boost sales. Now, with their new Freedom Wi-Fi app, they are hoping to start reaching out to current and new customers with this value-added service.
Freedom Mobile is trying to attract customers by making it easy to use their network. The Freedom Wi-Fi app not only allows their users to locate Freedom Wi-Fi hotspots but also their store locations. The app will give you directions and distances from your current spot for those places as well and you can look up address/telephone information about the hotspots and stores. Once registered, your Freedom Mobile device will automatically connect to one of their hotspots, taking another decision or search out of your hands. The app will also collect anonymous data to help determine where additional hotspots need to be added as well as gather information to ascertain the quality of the connection you are receiving.
