Huawei Reveals Which Phones Will Get Android 7.0 Nougat

Huawei is the third-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world at the moment, and it’s quite obvious that the company will sell more devices this year than they were able to sell last year. Huawei had sold 109 million smartphones in 2015, and they had crossed the 100 million sales mark a couple of months ago, which suggests that their sales numbers will go way beyond 100 million by the end of the year. Huawei had introduced quite a few devices this year, and the company has now finally revealed which devices will get Android 7.0 Nougat, read on.

The Huawei Mate 9 is the company’s new flagship phablet, and some of you probably know that it ships with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Huawei did install their Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0 on top of Android, and needless to say, this is the first Huawei-branded smartphone to ship with both Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.0 out of the box. Anyhow, these are the devices that will get Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.0 on top of it: Huawei Mate 8, Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei Nova and Huawei Nova Plus. Now, it is possible that Huawei plans to include a number of older devices on this list, it is quite possible actually, but the aforementioned devices are first in line to get Android 7.0 Nougat, and join the Huawei Mate 9. As part of the update, Huawei’s devices will get a number of Android 7.0 Nougat features, like an improved notification shade, some new options when quick settings are concerned, etc.

Furthermore, the Huawei Mate 8 and Huawei P9 will be getting the update first it seems, they are expected to receive a stable version of Android 7.0 Nougat in the first quarter of next year. Android 7.0 Nougat beta build is currently available for both of these devices, and it has been that way for a couple of months now, so the final build is quite probably close to being released. There you have it, we don’t know if Huawei intends to give us exact Android 7.0 Nougat update timeframes for these devices, but if they do, you’ll be the first to know, so stay tuned for that.
