LG Will Announce Five New Smartphones During CES

LG will announce five new smartphones during CES 2017, with four of the phones being part of their K series lineup while they’ll also be introducing a new device called the Stylus 3, all of which are slated to be mid-range devices for the new year. LG is planning to unleash these new smartphones onto the market in the coming year, while also introducing the market to new mid-range devices which come equipped with some of the features and specs you would find on some of LG’s more high-end flagship offerings. LG notes that features such as the rear placement of the fingerprint sensor as well as the 120-degree wide-angle front-facing camera will be available.

Included in the new K series lineup, LG will be officially showcasing the K3, K4, K8, and K10 smartphones, all of which build on LG’s philosophy that consumers have vastly different tastes and thus deserve a wide range of offerings in the smartphone department. All four K series devices feature similar specs but also have a fair amount of different hardware, and when you lump in the new Stylus 3, the screen sizes cater to a broad set of consumers, starting with a screen size of 4.5-inches and going all the way up to 5.7-inches, essentially making it so that LG has something to offer to just about everyone who is looking for a mid-range smartphone.

Starting with the K3, this is a device which comes with a 4.5-inch FWVGA screen, which has a resolution of 854 x 480. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor which is paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage space, which is also expandable via a microSD card for those who need more room on their device. It also has a 2-megapixel front camera as well as a 5-megapixel rear camera, a removable 2,100mAh battery, and it comes running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. LG will be offering this device in Black only it seems. The next device in the lineup is the K4, which steps things up to a 5-inch display but keeps the same resolution. It’s also powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, and has the exact same amount of RAM and internal storage. The rear camera is also the same coming in at 5-megapixels, but LG has placed a higher quality front camera on the K4 by using a 5-megapixel sensor instead of using the 2-megapixel found on the K3. The battery has been increased from 2,100mAh to 2,500mAh, and it also runs on Marshmallow and will be offered in Black, as well as a Titan color option.

With the K8 LG begins to step things up just a bit, and although it comes with a 5-inch display like the K4, it has an HD resolution of 1280 x 720, and it increases the RAM from 1GB to 1.5GB. It also has double the storage at 16GB and is expandable by 32GB via a microSD card if consumers need more room. The battery stays the same here at 2,500mAh and it carries the same 5-megapixel front-facing camera sensor as found on the K4, but the rear-facing camera moves up to 13-megapixels. This is also the device where LG moves into the latest software, as it will be coming with Android 7.0 Nougat, and it comes in Titan, Gold, and Dark Blue. For the K10 which is the last of the four K series devices to be unveiled during the upcoming trade show, LG is using a 5.3-inch HD screen with a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor running the show. The device comes with 2GB of RAM, but it will offer consumers the option to choose either 16GB or 32GB of space, and both models will offer expandable storage through a microSD card. The front and rear camera sensors have the same megapixel count as the K8, but LG is using the wide-angle lens for the front camera here. The battery has a 2,8000mAh capacity and the device will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat, and it carries a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device, and will be offered in Black, Titan, and Gold color options.

The last new device that LG plans to unveil at CES next year is the Stylus 3, and it comes with the largest screen of all five phones, weighing in at 5.7-inches with a resolution of 1280 x 720. It features the same octa-core chip from MediaTek as the K10, and it also comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device, and it will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat as well. It comes with two other extras, which are an FM radio and of course the stylus, hence the name of the phone. LG is working with an 8-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera for this device, as well as 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which is also expandable. It also comes with the largest battery of the five devices at 3,200mAh, and will be offered in Metallic Titan and Pink Gold. While the specs listed here are accurate, LG does note that they could change based on the market the phones are launched in, although they do not mention which markets those will be. So far there is no mention on cost or availability time frames, but those will likely be made available after they’re shown off at CES.
