Multiple Exynos 8895 Versions Detailed In New Leaked Document

Latest rumors regarding Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 8895 SoC reveal that the high-end chip could well come in multiple versions that differ ever so slightly from one another. The rumor comes in the form of a leaked document that was originally posted on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, but has now found its way on to Twitter. Much like the Snapdragon 835, the Exynos 8895 variants are also expected to feature an integrated 10nm CPU. The leak also seems to confirm a number of other details regarding Samsung’s all-new top-tier SoC, which will apparently come in three different versions next year. While the Exynos 8895M and Exynos 8895V are expected to hit the market in Q2 2017, a third version, with a Shannon 395 modem and compatible with North American CDMA networks, is apparently expected in Q3 2017.

The Exynos 8895 was earlier reported to come with an integrated octa-core CPU, and is widely expected to power the global editions of the upcoming Galaxy S8. Samsung has reportedly been testing the Exynos 8895 extensively, with its CPU clocked at speeds of up to 4GHz. The final retail version, however, was always expected to be clocked at much lower frequencies for reasons of stability, power efficiency and optimum thermal performance. Also like the Snapdragon 835, the upcoming SoC is believed to support Cat.16 LTE connectivity, LPDDR4 RAM and UFS 2.1 storage. While all of that will be valid for both versions of the Exynos 8895, there are a couple of significant differences between the two versions of Samsung’s all-new top-tier chip.

According to the leaked document, the 8895V will be the base version of the upcoming SoC, and will have its four Exynos M2 CPU cores clocked at a maximum of 2.3GHz. The more premium 8895M edition, meanwhile, will have its Exynos M2 cores clocked at an even higher 2.5GHz. The four Cortex-A53 cores in both the variants, however, will be clocked at 1.7GHz. As for the GPU, both the variants will come with the Mali G71 chip clocked at speeds of up to 550MHz. However, the Exynos 8895V will apparently come with an 18 core version of the chip, while the Exynos 8895M will include a whopping 20 core version of the same GPU.
