Following a couple of Nokia smartphone render leaks, the Nokia E1 just got certified in China. The Nokia E1 and Nokia D1 leaked a couple of days ago, and now the Nokia E1 got certified by the 3C authority in China. Nokia TA-1000 paid a visit to the 3C certification authority, and it seems like we’re looking at the Nokia E1 here. This listing did not really reveal all that much info when it comes to the phone, but it does reveal that the phone will ship with 5V / 2A charging, so it seems like fast charging won’t be a part of this package.
According to previous rumors, the Nokia E1 will sport a 5.5-inch display, and this will be the company’s entry-level smartphone it seems. Previous rumors also said that the device could be fueled by one of Qualcomm’s entry-level chips from the Snapdragon 200 series, and the device will, allegedly, ship with only 1GB of RAM. Android 7.0 Nougat will come pre-installed on this smartphone, if rumors are to be believed, and the device will ship with three capacitive buttons below the display, back, home and overview (multitasking), respectively. Based on some design leaks, the phone’s physical keys will be placed on its right-hand side, and the bezels will be quite noticeable. This phone might not sport great design, or specs, but it seems like it will be extremely affordable, almost certainly the most affordable smartphone Nokia plans to release next year.
As many of you know, HMD Global now has rights to release Nokia-branded smartphones, after they purchased such rights from Microsoft a while back. The company had confirmed recently that they intend to introduce Android-powered smartphones next year, and we could see new devices hit the market in the first quarter of 2017. Nokia will focus on budget devices, but chances are we’ll see a Nokia-branded flagship hit the market next year as well. We’re only guessing at this point, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, of course. New Nokia leaks are expected to land soon, so stay tuned for that, we’ll make sure to keep you in the loop, as per usual.
