Android TV at the best of times, is a rather rigid affair. As part of Google’s plans to offer a cross-device similar user experience for many of the extended Android platforms (TV, Wear, Auto and so on), what a manufacturer can actually do to the Android TV experience is somewhat limited. That does not necessarily mean that what the owner of an Android TV device can do to improve their experience (or make it a more unique one), is as limited. One of the building blocks of advanced customization of any Android device is installing a custom recovery. Like for instance, the ever-popular TWRP. Not to mention, TWRP is a great option for those who are just looking to create fuller and more detailed backups of the system.
Speaking of which, it now looks as though TWRP support has been extended to include the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV. So if you do own a SHIELD Android TV device and are looking to up the level of customization for your device, then this is likely to be something you will want to download and install. If you are not of the Android TV persuasion, then it also looks like a number of smartphones have seen their support going live this week as well. In short, if you happen to be the owner of the Lenovo Moto E (2016), or the very newly-released Wileyfox Swift 2 (and/or the Swift 2 Plus variant), then it looks like you can now also download and install TWRP for your specific device.
