Qualcomm & Lionsgate To Unleash Power Rangers VR Experience

Qualcomm has recently announced that they’ll be partnering up with Lionsgate to unleash a Power Rangers VR experience based on the upcoming Power Rangers film. This will surely be exciting for fans of VR that simply like to engage with new experiences and for Power Rangers fans, and according to Qualcomm users will get their first taste of it at the upcoming CES trade show next month, where Qualcomm plans to unveil it to the public. This wouldn’t be the first time that a major film studio has worked with technology companies to create a VR experience based on a movie for fans, as 20th Century Fox recently worked with Alienware and AMD to create an Assassin’s Creed VR experience based on the film that releases this month.

While VR and Hollywood film is still very new compared to the other types of content that can be enjoyed with VR headsets, this just goes to show that Hollywood really is interested in VR and what they can do with it to engage fans in a new and exciting way. Alongside unveiling this new VR experience based on the Power Rangers reboot, Qualcomm is planning to showcase their next-generation chipset, the Snapdragon 835, which will also be powering this VR experience. With this in mind, it provides a fun and engaging offering for fans of the series, but it also provides a way for Qualcomm to show people the power of their upcoming flagship CPU.

Since the experience is being unveiled at CES in January, that means that people in the U.S. will get their hands on the experience first, but Qualcomm does make a note that they want to make it available to people internationally, however it will not be until a later date. Once launched, users who engage with the experience will get to enter the Zords of the Power Rangers making it seems as if they’re a Power Ranger themselves. In addition to Lionsgate, Qualcomm is getting the help of Reel FX Studios for the VR and animation production. Those who want to experience this first hand as well as first, will be able to see the unveiling at Qualcomm’s booth at CES.
