The third generation of the Samsung Galaxy A3 is all but confirmed at this point. We’ve been hearing reports of the South Korean tech giant working on 2017 variants of the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and the Galaxy A7 since late August and the Galaxy A3 itself recently passed the universal WiFi certification process. Couple that with the fact that a recent GFXBench listing revealed most of its specs, and it’s reasonable to presume that it’s only a matter of time before Samsung officially announces the 2017 iteration of the Galaxy A3.
Today, a Twitter user OnLeaks leaked first renders and a 360-degree video showcasing the said device. The video and images show a rather pleasant-looking version of the Galaxy A3, with rounded corners and a simple black case, as well as a camera that’s neatly built into the device without any bumps. In addition to that, these renders show how Samsung opted to equip the latest version of its mid-range phone with a USB Type-C port. Now, as you can see below, the video also showcases renders, so we’re yet to see the Galaxy A3 make an appearance in its physical form. However, it shouldn’t be long before that happens, as Samsung will likely debut its latest mid-range smartphone by the time Mobile World Congress 2017 kicks off in late February, if not sooner.
As for the device itself, it’s rumored to sport a 4.7-inch display boasting a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels and the Exynos 7870 system-on-chip from Samsung themselves. The latter is bound to feature a 1.5GHz octa-core processor and the ARM Mali-T830 graphics chip. Furthermore, the GFXBench listing mentioned above reveals that the third generation of the Galaxy A3 will come packed with 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot. On the camera side of things, the device is rumored to sport a 7-megapixel front shooter and a 12-megapixel rear one with autofocus and flash, the latter of which is also showcased by the latest set of renders which you can see below. The 2017 variant of the Galaxy A3 is expected to ship running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and has also been rumored to feature a fingerprint reader. Last but not least, the source of these leaks also claims that the new Galaxy A3 will be 133.69 x 65.22 x 7.89 mm in size.
