T-Mobile Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge Receive November Security Patch

Android’s security updates are designed to improve security on smartphones which run on Android. All changes take place under the hood and consist of vulnerability patches, meaning that these updates should be top priority for any Android smartphone user wanting to access online services and content in a secure environment. Well, it is already the end of November and if you happen to own either a Samsung Galaxy S6 or a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge from T-Mobile, then you should be receiving the security patch for November. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were released by Samsung over a year ago and still receive regular updates from Samsung and carriers alike, especially security updates which are essential for smartphones these days.

The software versions are, G920TUVU5EPK5 for the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 and G925TUVU5EPK5 for the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge. This is a minor update for both devices and it likely won’t add any new features to these two smartphones, though it will not be known until T-Mobile updates their respective support pages. Samsung had announced this security patch a few weeks back, in case you were wondering. It is likely that the Galaxy S6 series won’t be receiving future updates with new features anytime soon, at least not until Samsung releases Android 7.0 Nougat for their Galaxy S6 series.

If you haven’t already received the notification prompting you to update your Galaxy S6 (Edge) device, you could check whether the November security update is available for your T-Mobile device, and all you have to do is proceed to Settings, select About Device, tap on Software Update, and tap the option titled Download Updates Manually. On the other hand, you could wait for the system to prompt you to install the security update when it is available for your device. In order to update your smartphones, you will need to have at least 50% of battery life remaining on your device, so keep that in mind. As the November security update is being delivered over-the-air (OTA), it might take a few days for you to receive it as it is released to compatible devices in stages.
