The ZTE Grand X 4 Hits Freedom Mobile For $299

ZTE’s Grand X 4 is making a splash at Canada’s Freedom Mobile, and it will be available for all Freedom Mobile customers through multiple options at the carrier starting today. The new device from ZTE will be available at full retail which is set at a cost of $299, which might be the best option for those who don’t want to mess around with payment plans. That said, Freedom Mobile will also be offering the device to subscribers for $0 down for qualified buyers on the carrier’s MyTab Boost plan, or for $99 on the MyTab plan both of which have customers paying the remainder of the phone price off over a series of monthly payments.

Freedom Mobile was formerly WIND Mobile, and the arrival of the ZTE Grand X 4 marks the coming of their net LTE network and the transition to the new brand. Freedom Mobile states that the Grand X 4 will be one of the first devices on the network, and with the specs on board and at the price that’s listed, it doesn’t seem to be too bad of an option.

For that $299 price tag, the ZTE Grand X 4 will come with a 5.5-inch HD display and is powered by a quad-core processor from Qualcomm, more specifically, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 412 processor. The phone also comes paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage space, and it’s expandable via a microSD card slot if 16GB isn’t quite enough to meet your needs. It features a respectable 3,140mAh battery on the inside, it carries a fingerprint sensor on the back, and it has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chat. When it comes to the software, ZTE has used Android Marshmallow for the software version, so it’s one generation behind, and currently there is no way to know if the phone will end up getting an update to Nougat. Overall, this shapes up to be a decent device for customers who want a mid-tier option phone, although it is worth noting that the fingerprint sensor does not work for authorizing mobile payments. it does, however, allow you to unlock the devie, unlock apps, and answer phone calls, which means that ZTE has baked in some extra gesture features for it.
