Samsung seemingly started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge in China and the United Kingdom. Even users who haven’t signed up for the beta program have reportedly started receiving the update on their unlocked devices. Multiple users on XDA-Developers are reporting that they’re receiving the update, while people from Germany and The Netherlands are yet to see Nougat hit their Samsung-made smartphones. However, those customers may see their update soon as Samsung previously said that they’re planning to deliver the Nougat update to the European market on or around January 17. Those who are particularly anxious to get their hands on the update in other regions have reportedly been using Samsung’s ODIN flashing tool to put UK firmware on their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge units, and many users who have gone through this procedure are indeed reporting that the update becomes available after the flashing process is done.
Users who reported seeing the update say it’s around 1.2GB in size and is still not causing any adverse side effects. Owners of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are reporting that they did not have to wipe their devices in order to install the Nougat update and that they are enjoying a mostly bug-free experience which bears many similarities with the latest beta release. As with any major firmware update, there is a risk of something going wrong in the middle of the flashing process and bricking the device, and there have thankfully been no reports of such phenomena at this time.
UK customers who have somehow managed to get their hands on devices that do not bear the BTU software code do not seem to be getting the update just yet. While this is an uncommon occurrence seeing how BTU is the native UK firmware, some users who bought their Galaxy S7 or the Galaxy S7 Edge in the country are apparently seeing a different software version. However, they are reporting that the update comes through with no issues if they flash over to BTU firmware. On the other hand, users in China have yet to report any sort of problems or complications with their Nougat updates.
