ASUS Halts ZenFone 3 Android Nougat Update Rollout

Android Nougat update for the ASUS ZenFone 3 is not longer rolling out it seems, the company stopped rolling it out for the time being. As some of you might know, ASUS started rolling out Android Nougat for the ZenFone 3 in the Philippines last week, and a global release was supposed to follow soon, but it seems like quite a few bugs appeared and ASUS needs to address those before they continue pushing the update to their devices.

This information comes from ASUS Philippines directly, as the company confirmed that the update is on hold, but they did not mention the reason why, at least not officially. The company is also advising their users to enable the ‘Auto Download System Update’ in settings so that they’re aware when the update is available, so that they can install it straight away. ASUS asked their users for patience, but it seems like the rollout will continue in the near future, it all depends on how long will it take for ASUS to address the aforementioned bugs. The update will almost certainly continue rolling out in the Philippines before the company opts to start rolling it out globally.

As many of you probably already know, ASUS’ ZenFone devices ship with the company’s skin on top of Android, same goes for the ZenFone 3, of course. ASUS did include a number of Android Nougat features in the new update, though we do not have all the info nor the official changelog just yet, but you can expect a more robust notification shade with plenty of new options, better battery life, etc. The ZenFone 3, as most of you know, was released last year along with the ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Ultra. All three of these devices are actually expected to get Android Nougat soon, on a global scale. This is still ASUS’ flagship smartphone lineup, as the company did not introduce the ZenFone 4 just yet, and we’re not entirely sure when will that happen. The ZenFone 3 lineup was introduced back in May, but the ZenFone 2 devices landed during CES 2015, so it seems like ASUS doesn’t really have a release cycle in place, at least they did not have one up to this point.
