Best Convertible Device Of CES 2017: ASUS Chromebook Flip C302

Congratulations ASUS on the Chromebook Flip C302 winning our award for Best Convertible Device Of CES 2017

The first big tech trade show of the year is behind us. This year’s CES 2017 did not disappoint, as we’ve seen plenty of interesting tech being announced in Las Vegas. Now, some companies did better than others, and we’ve already handed out some AH rewards, ASUS’ ZenFone AR smartphone is our pick for the best smartphone of CES 2017, for example, and the Kuri home robot is best IoT innovation. These are only some examples, as we’ve already handed out quite a few awards, and it’s time to take a closer look at Chromebooks, well, convertible Chromebooks, to be exact. Not many convertible Chromebooks were announced at CES 2017, but we’ve decided to name ASUS’ Chromebook Flip C302 the best one, even though Samsung’s offerings (Samsung Chromebook Pro and Chromebook Plus) are neck and neck with it.

The ASUS Chromebook Flip C302 is a metal-clad device which comes with really solid internals, and a well-built 360-degree hinge which lets you turn this Chromebook into a tablet, if necessary. Thanks to this mechanism, you can use this device as a Chrome OS powered laptop, tablet or perhaps just a screen to watch a movie on, as it can be set up on your table, sofa, or wherever you want. The Chromebook Flip C302 features a 12.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) LED backlit 60Hz Glare Panel (sensitive to touch), while it comes in both 4GB and 8GB RAM flavors, while several internal storage variants are also available, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage models. The keyboard included on this Chromebook is illuminated, and the device is fueled by Intel’s SoC. Do keep in mind that ASUS introduced three SoC variants of the Chromebook Flip C302, two Intel M chips (Intel Core M3 and Intel Core M7), while the Intel Pentium 4405Y had also been introduced by ASUS. This Chromebook is equipped with 802.11 AC Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and it comes with a card reader as well. There are two Type-C USB 3.1 ports included here as well, and so is a 39 Whrs battery. The ASUS Chromebook Flip C302 has some compelling audio capabilities as well, it can generate up to 87dB of high-fidelity audio, which is certainly commendable. This Chromebook measures 304 x 210 x 13.7mm, while it weighs 1.20kg.

ASUS had presented four styles you can use the Chromebook Flip C302 in, Tablet Mode, Laptop Mode, Stand Mode and Tent Mode, all of which are shown off below this paragraph. All in all, ASUS’ new Chromebook Flip C302 is quite a versatile device, though do keep in mind that its pricing structure will start at $499 (base model), so this is definitely one of the more expensive Chromebooks out there. The ASUS Chromebook Flip C302 sure is an interesting device, and if you need both a laptop and a tablet, and you’re satisfied with what Chrome OS has to offer, well, then the price definitely makes sense, as you’re getting a Chromebook that can be used in multiple configurations.
