Huawei’s ‘Honor Magic’ smartphone made some waves after its initial announcement and reveal as it was currently unlike any other devices that had been produced as part of Honor’s lineup before. Naturally, as CES has been going on this week Huawei has brought the Honor Magic with them to showcase during the event, and we’ve been able to get some hands-on time with it to finally check it out and see what all the fuss is about. Of course, its design is likely one of the most unique and striking features that it has and will be one of the first things people take notice of.
The Honor Magic definitely has a different enough look to make it turn heads and grab people’s attention, but its looks are not the only things going for it. It’s equipped with a Quad HD display and comes in at a size of just over 5-inches, so it’s pocketable but not too small and it has a fairly high resolution which should make picture quality nice and sharp on a screen of this size. It also carries some pretty decent cameras with a 12-megapixel dual camera sensor setup on the back complete with LED flash, and over on the front it has an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video chatting. On the inside it carries 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and it’s powered by he Kirin 950 octa-core processor, with a 2,900mAh battery to keep it going. In short, it has plenty of high-end specifications and is more than capable of providing a decent user experience to the consumer.
The Honor Magic isn’t available outside of China right now and there’s no indication of whether or not it will be, so that may be the only downside to the phone. The device features a very shiny exterior with the use of the glass material on the back, and thanks to the Quad HD display the screen is bright and vivid. It’s also fairly lightweight in the hand and it’s relatively thin making for an all around compelling smartphone if you’re able to get a hold of one. That being said, as you can see in the gallery of images below they have the Honor Magic connected to the T-Mobile network and it’s grabbing onto 4G, so while the device may not be sold in the U.S., it should have no issue connecting to U.S. GSM networks.
