CES 2017: Hands-On With The ZTE Blade V8 & Blade V8 Pro

Yesterday at CES 2017, ZTE announced the Blade V8 Pro is coming to the US. Today at CES 2017, ZTE announced the launch of the Blade V8. Both of these smartphones are designed to be affordable and both do clearly make a push for those looking for a decent camera experience. This is largely due to both the V8 Pro and V8 coming equipped with a dual-rear camera setup. Although, they are not quite the same camera setup.

In terms of the newly-arriving in the US, Blade V8 Pro, this smartphone comes equipped with two 13-megapixel rear cameras, along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. In contrast, the newly-announced Blade V8 comes packing a 13-megapixel rear camera, along with a secondary 2-megapixel camera. While the front facing camera is boosted up to a 13-megapixel level. So depending on where your photo-capturing emphasis lie, might determine which of the two V8 models is best-suited to your needs. It is also worth noting though, the cameras are not the only common, yet different, features on offer with the two smartphones.

In terms of the ZTE Blade V8, This is a smartphone which comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display. The insides depends on which model you opt for – as one variant offers 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, while the other comes packing 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Although, both models seem to come powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor. Additional features on offer include a fingerprint sensor, a 2,730 mAh battery, and the latest version of the Android operating system, Android 7.0 (Nougat). In contrast, the the ZTE Blade V8 Pro comes with a larger 5.5-inch Full HD display. While inside you will find 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. Additional features on offer with the Blade V8 Pro include a fingerprint sensor, dual SIM support and microSD support (up to 128GB). The battery is also greater on the ‘Pro’ model as this smartphones comes powered by a 3,140 mAh battery, although this smartphone currently comes running on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).

In terms of availability, the Blade V8 Pro is already available to pre-order in the US and does only cost $229.98 to buy. The Blade V8 on the other hand is only currently confirmed for select regions. For instance, from February it will be available in Japan and Russia, while by March, it is expected to become available in Germany, Spain and China. At the moment, there are no details on the US available of the Blade V8 or on how much it is going to cost.
