Xiaomi, a Chinese company which is known for its cheap but feature packed smartphones, as well as their Mi Ecosystem which consists of products such as rice cookers, TV’s, air purifiers, Wi-Fi routers along with countless other products, made its debut at this year’s CES 2017. At its keynote event held at the convention, Xiaomi announced three new product launches, which included a white version of the Xiaomi Mi MIX, a concept smartphone from the company which was launched back in October but was available only in black then. The Chinese company also announced the Mi TV 4, a super slim TV, measuring just 4.99mm in thickness, which the company says is 30% thinner than the iPhone 7 and 37% thinner than its very own Mi MIX. On top of that, the Mi TV 4 comes with a 4K screen and packs many more features under the hood.
At the keynote event, Xiaomi also announced the Mi Router HD, its latest Wi-Fi router to add to its already extensive lineup of such devices. While it didn’t steal the limelight from Xiaomi’s other two products, it is nonetheless an important product for the company, as it sells really well in China. The Mi Router HD is made out of premium materials and it features an aluminum allow housing. Internally, the router packs four powerful MU-MIMO high-gain antennas which are able to deliver speeds of up to 2600Mbps in 802.11ac standard. It also features a Qualcomm IPQ8064 network processor and the Mi Router HD is able to serve as a NAS server. This is due to the fact that the router comes in two storage options, a 1TB variant or a much larger 8TB model. With this storage, users will be able to use it to back up your devices and it will be able to automatically sync with your Dropbox account and integrate with your Sonos audio system. It is also capable of multi-screen sharing and can be remotely accessed using the Mi Home app.
As for pricing and availability, Xiaomi has stated that the 1TB Mi Router HD will be available for just under $200, while the larger 8TB version will be available for under $500. While the Mi Router HD was announced at CES 2017, it will not be making its way to the US just yet, instead it will be available in China sometime in the first quarter of the year.
