US-based thermal imaging equipment manufacturer FLIR Systems has announced its new range of thermal imaging cameras at CES 2017 in Las Vegas, comprised of two new third generation FLIR One smartphone thermal camera attachments, two new thermal units designed for drones, and last but not least, a ruggedized thermal camera wrapped in a small form factor designed for use by home and building inspectors.
The third generation FLIR One smartphone camera attachment lineup consists of the FLIR ONE and the FLIR ONE Pro, supporting both Android OS and iOS-powered handsets. The former is described as a “powerful, introductory-level” thermal camera equipped with OneFit adjustable-height connectors, whereas the latter is “the most advanced FLIR ONE ever developed”, boasting a ruggedized design, VividIR and MSX advanced image processing, and full integration with the FLIR Tools application for in-depth analysis of data. Like the FLIR ONE, the Pro model also takes advantage of a new OneFit adjustable-height connector. Next in line are the two new FLIR Duo cameras for drones, namely the FLIR Duo and FLIR Duo R. According to the manufacturer, the FLIR Duo is the industry’s first multi-sensor camera featuring FLIR’s Lepton thermal microcamera core, MSX technology, and an HD 1080p visible camera able to record videos in real-time to a microSD card. Interestingly enough, users will have the option to switch between thermal and visible cameras in-flight, and can also view both feeds in a picture-in-picture mode. As for the FLIR Duo R, it improves upon the regular FLIR Duo with the addition of accurate temperature measurement capabilities, facilitating usage in commercial applications including civil engineering, building inspections, construction and agricultural.
Last but not least, the fifth thermal camera unveiled by the company at CES 2017 is called the FLIR C3, and it is a ruggedized, pocketable thermal camera designed for home inspectors, general contractors, real estate agents and other professionals requiring diagnostic tools for discovering hidden issues. The camera is equipped with a 3-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi connectivity, and has picture-in-picture capabilities. In terms of pricing and availability, the FLIR ONE and FLIR ONE Pro will be available for purchase in the first half of the year for the price of $199 and $399 respectively. The FLIR Duo camera for drones will launch in H1 for $999, whereas the FLIR Duo R will be available for $1,299 within the same timeframe. Lastly, the FLIR C3 should hit the shelves in Q1 2017 for the price of $699.
