HTC 10 and HTC One M9 users in the UK & Europe are getting Nougat, as the update has started to roll out to both of those devices in those regions. Android Nougat updates have been slow to roll out for many devices, and that includes some of the flagships. While the HTC 10 and HTC One M9 have been updated in the US for some time, Graham Wheeler, product and service director at HTC EMEA initially Tweeted that they would be available first in the UK and more regions would soon follow. Wheeler is a man of his word as the updates started earlier this morning. No date was given for other countries, but users should expect to see them roll out very soon.
Android 7.0 Nougat brings a major update to the Android Operating System (OS) – many features and changes are behind the scenes and many are ones that users can take advantage of to enhance their Android experience. One of the behind the screens niceties is a much-improved Doze Mode that helps improve battery life by shutting down things that are not needed when the phone is resting. In the past, it could take up to 30 minutes to enter this particular state, but now it is almost instantaneous when the display goes off, and it immediately ‘wakes up’ when you pick up and turn on the device.
Nougat also has a Split Screen and a Picture-in-Picture option for easy multitasking. Bigger and clearer ‘cards’ find their way into Nougat making them easier to read and manipulate. One of the nicest features is an updated Notifications Shade and the ability to press on a notification and read part of it to see if you want to unlock your device and read the entire message/notification. There is also an option that allows pop-up notifications when you are working on your phone – simply answer or dismiss the notification and continue with what you were doing. The HTC One M9 from 2015 and the HTC 10 from 2016 are all-metal devices with flagship specs. HTC introduced the public to their love for all-metal devices with their previous HTC One M7. The HTC 10 was a significant refresh and had more angular lines and looked chiseled out of a block of aluminum. It continued with their infamous BoomSound, and it sports the Snapdragon 820, Quad HD display, and front-mounted fingerprint sensor. Now with Android 7.0 Nougat, your HTC 10 just got a whole lot better. If you haven’t seen the update show up yet, you can always check for the update manually from the settings menu.
