LeEco’s General Manager of Product Marketing, Kenny Mathers, stated that the company would “soon” be releasing software updates based on feedback from American customers of the new LeEco smartphones. Mathers was replying during a questions and answers session at the Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas, and he explained that the company would soon be releasing updates to fine tune devices sold into the US market. The software updates may include fixes to features that many American customers are used to, such as a dedicated app drawer, which LeEco’s flagship Le Pro3 smartphone is missing. Mathers went on to say: “We’re listening and we’re incorporating, and now we’re going to push out some updates that will please a lot of our users.” This is encouraging that Le Eco are listening to customer opinions although Mathers was not able to provide a timeline or exact details as to what the software updates might include.
When asked for the best place for customers to provide feedback, Mathers was clear: the dedicated Feedback application on LeEco’s products is absolutely the best place to provide feedback, as this information goes straight to LeEco’s team of engineers and is “highly visible” within the company. It stands to reason that the company’s own feedback channel is the best way to let the team know of things enjoyed or disliked about a product. Mathers went on to remind customers that all of their products include the ability to provide feedback, include LeEco’s television sets and presumably the Super Bike.
LeEco has only relatively recently started selling devices into the North American market following a press conference in the middle of October 2016 where the company released a large number of products ranging from smartphones through a smart bike to television sets. LeEco’s basis is that it is a live streaming company, similar in some respects to Netflix, and wants to control the hardware that customers view the streaming on. As such, their devices are competitively priced such as the $400 LeEco LePro3 smartphone: it’s a tempting handset for customers to buy given the great value, as is the more mid-range LeEco Le S3 at $250. That LeEco are happy to modify and adapt their products to suit the American market is a great thing and we will wait to see when “soon” is.
