LG Gains Bluetooth Certification For An Unannounced Wearable

LG gains Bluetooth certification for an unannounced wearable device with the model number listed as the LG-W270. Other than the model number and the fact that it’s a wearable device though, there isn’t much detail to be had. The certification page does list that this wearable will come with support for Bluetooth 4.2 and that it will support A2DP, AVRCP, and GAVDP profiles. There is no actual mention of this being a smartwatch, but LG isn’t really known to have any other wearables in the works other than smartwatches. With that said there is no way to know if this is the model number for one of the new watches that they have coming up.

The new smartwatches, known as the LG Watch Style and the LG Watch Sport, will both reportedly be running on Android Wear 2.0 when they launch, and both devices are rumored to meet the public on February 9th alongside the new version of the Android Wear software which Google is expected to announce the very same day, and receiving Bluetooth certification would certainly put one of these new watches in a good position to be announced, and then launched soon after.

There are no specs listed with this certification but if this does happen to be one of LG’s new Android Wear smartwatches then it could come powered by a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor inside as these were designed just for wearable devices. The LG Watch Style, one of the two upcoming smartwatches, recently leaked in full view showing off a rather clear picture of what the watch will look like, and the following day it was rumored that the LG Watch Style will launch at a starting price of $249. The emphasis on starting price means that LG is likely to offer variations of the watch, perhaps customizations that can be made by the customer. Two new LG smartwatches also passed through the FCC earlier this month, one of which was listed as the W270, while the other was the W280, and this particular certification did have screenshots associated with it that showcase the Android Wear menus, which is just one more piece of information that points to this being either the LG Watch Style or the LG Watch Sport.
