Summary:ByteDance, the company that owns TikTok, is working on its own pair of AI-powered smart glasses. These are going to take on the smart glasses on the market like the Meta Smart Glasses.

The smart glasses market is set to explode, with companies like Google and Samsung set to launch their own devices in the near future. Meta has already made its mark on the industry with its glasses co-developed with Ray-Ban. We can chalk the sudden interest in smart glasses up to AI, as it’s so much easier to access an AI agent through a pair of glasses.

We’re going to see a ton of companies come out of the woodwork with their own smart glasses. Case in point, the owner of one of the biggest video-sharing platforms on the planet is working on its own pair of AI smart glasses.

ByteDance is working on its own AI smart glasses

If you don’t know what this company is, you probably know about its most valuable asset, TikTok. This company owns that platform, and it’s been dipping its toe into AI over the past couple of years. For instance, ByteDance has also been working on a video generation model.

With the advent of AI smart glasses, ByteDance was quick to jump on the train. Two people close to the matter announced this news, according to the new report. At this point, we don’t know how far into production these glasses are, what they will be called (not even a codename), how much they’ll cost, or when they’ll launch. In fact, for all we know, these glasses could only exist in the imagination of the engineers that ByteDance just hired.

The company brought on “engineers with experience in hardware design” to develop the glasses. It’s also talking to suppliers, so they’re very early into production.

We don’t know how these glasses will stack up against the potential competition, but we know that the company wants these glasses to be great at capturing pictures and videos. As such, we’re sure that ByteDance will angle these glasses at TikTok creators to boost their content output.

When these glasses hit the market, we’re pretty sure that they’ll go up against whatever Google, Samsung, and Meta will have out at the time. It’s pretty exciting to see.
