Back at CES 2017, YI Technology, which is one of the many startups funded by Xiaomi, launched a new action camera at the technology show. This product came in the form of the YI 4k+, and is the third action camera released by the startup over the past three years. With the action camera market getting more and more crowded, Chinese company, LeEco has decided to enter the foray with the launch of their new action camera called the LeEco Liveman C1. LeEco is widely known as a manufacturer of high spec smartphones, which are priced competitively.
The Liveman C1 happens to be an action camera which is able to shoot 4K videos at 30 fps. While it may be a 4K action camera, it can’t match the capabilities of the new YI 4K+, which is able to shoot 4K videos at 60 fps, a first for an action camera. However, the Liveman C1 packs pretty decent specs, including a 16-megapixel camera sensor, with a 140-degree field of view. It is also equipped with a G-sensor which will be able to automatically start recording videos when movement of the camera is detected. The Liveman C1 also comes with a touchscreen, which measures 1.8-inch and serves as the viewfinder for the camera, along with a built-in menu. As for buttons, it comes with a square button colored in red, which serves as a recording button, and two buttons on the sides for Wi-Fi and various other functions. The action camera with built-in Wi-Fi also features a microSD card slot, and a micro HDMI port. To power the device, a decently sized 1,050 mAh battery is included.
If you purchase a Liveman C1 unit, you can expect to find a host of accessories in the retail box with the camera, including a waterproof case, allowing you to shoot videos and pictures underwater, up to a depth of 40 meters. Also included are two self-adhesive mounts, a few extensions, along with a USB cable to charge the camera and transfer files to and from the camera. As for availability and pricing, the Liveman C1 will be available for purchase in China before Chinese New Year, which falls on January 28th this year. At the launch event, the pricing of the Liveman C1 was not announced, but it is likely that the device won’t cost much if it falls in line with the price tag of LeEco’s other products, which are usually pretty affordable.
