Canadian mobile carrier Koodo revealed that all Moto G4 Plus units on its network will be receiving the upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat in February. The Canadian company posted the release date of Android 7.0 Nougat for several other devices, as well. The said version of Android will start rolling out to the Moto G4 Plus on February 11. This rollout will be followed by another one for the Moto Z Play which will start receiving the update on March 4. It’s likely that other Canadian carriers will be releasing the update around that time, too.
Motorola devices aren’t the only smartphones on Koodo’s network which will be receiving an upgrade to Nougat in the near future, as the company also announced the same update for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. Both devices will start receiving the update on February 8th along with the January security patch. However, the main highlight here is the Moto G4 Plus which already started receiving the Nougat update in some territories back in December. The update began rolling out to users in India, making it one of the first smartphones to receive the update since the latest version of Android was announced. Before that, Motorola released test builds to select Moto G4 Plus users in Brazil as a beta test.
Android 7.0 Nougat will bring a host of new features to the Moto G4 Plus, including the Multi-Window View functionality which will allow you to run two apps at the same time on your screen. The Doze On The Go feature is also included in the update, meaning Doze will activate even when your device is not lying flat on a surface. Moto G4 Plus users will now also be able to quickly reply to messages as the Direct Reply feature is a part of the Nougat update. Another new feature is the Quick Switch that allows users to switch between apps by simply double tapping the overview button. The Nougat update will likely be delivered over-the-air and you’ll receive a notification when it’s available for download. If you don’t receive an update notification on February 11, open Settings, then tap on About Phone and System Updates to manually check for the update.
