Every techie loves getting a major update – one that jumps from Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Android 7.0 Nougat – and it looks like the Motorola Moto Z in Europe is getting theirs right now. The Moto Z in India received their update at the end of 2016, so this is a nice way for European countries to celebrate the New Year. The download is approximately 1.5GB and takes several minutes to download and upgrade. You might want to be hooked into WiFi for a faster download and to save your data usage.
The Android 7.0 Nougat update continues Google’s trend towards more optimizations to the OS, but it also packs many new features that users will appreciate. One of the best features is Doze that works behind the scenes to save battery life. The improved Doze feature allows your smartphone to go into its Doze state almost as soon as you turn off your display. This almost instant-on Doze puts your device in a state to start saving battery life almost immediately. Your device will return to its normal state as soon as you turn on the display. The Notification area was also given a once over, and you can now access your emails through the notification shade. Quick Reply is another function built into Nougat – you can quickly respond to messages you receive and then go back to what you were doing before the message arrived. Multi-Window multitasking is also built into Nougat, and you can now easily work on two things at once – watch a video while you are texting or emailing. Even little improvements just make working on your device easier. When you hit the recent key, you will be presented with full-size cards for each opened app. This makes it easier to read and locate the app you would like to switch to and work with.
The Moto Z series is one of Motorola/Lenovo’s most popular line-ups to date. Three available models will satisfy most users’ needs and pocketbook. These high-quality and well-built smartphones have really good cameras, performance, and features depending on which model you purchase. The Moto Z line also has access to a line of Moto Mods that will add more functionality to your device or even custom back panels to change its look.
