A brand new concept of the soon-to-be-revealed LG G6 has now popped up online and although it is just a concept, it is quite stunning. The video also includes some speculative specifications for the device, but also could be based – at least loosely – on the reportedly leaked case designs for the real device as well as other rumors. Some of the specs and design features that are shown in the video are realistically possible – though still to be read with the words ‘third-party concept’ in mind.
Conceptualizations of as-yet-to-be-revealed smartphones are great – both for showing off an artist’s skills and for building hype around a given device. With LG’s G6 expected reveal occurring at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017), concepts of it and other devices expected to be revealed around that time are bound to be abundant. DBS Designing’s concept shows a G6 with a borderless display, dual cameras on both the front and back, as well as a chamfered edge detail on the reverse. The fingerprint reader sits in the middle of the back of the device – as it did with the real versions of previous LG G-series smartphones. The speculation continues with the phone imagined as capable of shooting 4K video at 120 frames per second. The screen is shown to be a 5.7-inch QHD display at a ratio of 18:9. It features a Snapdragon 835 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128 GB storage. The SD slot supports up to 2TB. The device is waterproofed. An iris scanner is present and all of this is backed up by a 5,000 mAh fast charging battery.
The video itself is exceptionally well-made and does show the level of thought and work that has gone into it, in addition to obviously paying attention to prospective leaks and rumors about the device. The design studio also has several other concepts that appear to be on equal footing in terms of quality. While this and other concepts are not much more than an artistic expression, such concepts do highlight a number of features and design cues which are likely to be present in the finished product.
