The Galaxy S7 Active might get updated to Android 7.0 Nougat really soon, as the phone running that variant of Android got certified by the Wi-FI Alliance. As you can see, the date of this certification is January 26th (which was yesterday), and the Galaxy S7 Active (SM-G891A) runs Android 7.0 Nougat according to the filing. The Galaxy S7 Active actually follows the lead of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge which have started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat last week.
Do keep in mind that Samsung still did not confirm that the Galaxy S7 Active will receive Android 7.0 Nougat, but this listing more or less confirms that it will happen. As most of you know, the Galaxy S7 Active is not exactly a phone that is available all around the globe, it is exclusive to AT&T in the US. This filing suggests that the Galaxy S7 Active might receive Android 7.0 Nougat update in the coming weeks, and chances are it will get identical features to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. This means that you’ll get a slightly re-worked UI, and a number of Nougat features, like the threaded notifications shade, always on Doze mode, more productive multitasking options, and so on. It is also worth mentioning that this is not the first time that we see the Galaxy S7 Active listed with Android 7.0 Nougat, earlier this month, the phone surfaced on GFXBench.
The Galaxy S7 Active way released back in June last year, and aside from the fact this is a rugged smartphone, it’s identical to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in every other way, though it looks somewhat different due to its rugged build, though. This smartphone comes with the same internals as the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, which means it is fueled by the Snapdragon 820, and it packs in 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. A 12-megapixel OIS shooter is placed on the back of the Galaxy S7 Active, and a 4,000mAh battery is also a part of this package, while it is not removable. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the device, but the phone will get Android 7.0 Nougat, hopefully.
