The Samsung Gear S3 smartwatches are on their way to India. Samsung will announce these two smartwatches in India on January 10th, the company has confirmed. Samsung has started sending out invites for their India event which will be held on said date, and will commence at 6PM local time. The image clearly confirms that the Gear S3 is on the way, and it is our assumption that they will launch both models in the country, and the provided image kind of suggests that, which you’ll notice if you take a look at the two watches behind the text.
The Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier were announced at IFA in Berlin last year, a tradeshow which took place back in September, and the company is now expanding the availability of these two smartwatches it seems. The Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier are both made out of metal, and they’re powered by Samsung’s Tizen OS (v2.3.2 out of the box). Both watches come with the IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, NFC and a built-in speaker, while GPS is also present here. These two smartwatches share the vast majority of specs as well, even though they look quite different and are aimed at different people, as the frontier is sportier than the Gear S3 Classic, if we can put it that way. The Gear S3 Frontier, unlike the Gear S3 Classic, sports a SIM card slot as well, which means you’ll be able to use this watch’s 3G or 4G connectivity if you choose to do so.
The Gear S3 watches feature a 1.3-inch (360 x 360) Super AMOLED Always On display, 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. They are fueled by a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz, and a 380mAh battery is included here, and it comes with support for wireless charging (WPC Inductive). Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n is included here, and so is Bluetooth 4.2. These two watches also come with Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Heart Rate, Ambient Light and Barometer sensors, while they measure 46 x 49 x 12.9mm. The Gear S3 Classic weighs 57 grams, while the Gear S3 Frontier weighs 62 grams. We still don’t know how much will they cost, we’ll just have to wait for Samsung to announce them.
