Samsung has just announced three new ‘Galaxy A’ smartphones, the Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and the Galaxy A7 (2017). These three smartphones represent Samsung’s new ‘Galaxy A’ series of smartphones, and they have been leaking for weeks now, we’ve seen various benchmark listings of these three phones, along with a number of design leaks. The Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and the Galaxy A7 (2017) are exactly what we’ve expected, the rumors / leaks were more or less spot on. Let’s see what they have to offer, shall we.
All of these smartphones are made out of metal, as expected, and they look quite similar, though the Galaxy A3 (2017) is considerably smaller than the Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017). Before we start talking about each device separately, it’s worth noting that all of them come with an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, just like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) features a 4.7-inch 720p (1280 x 720) Super AMOLED display, which makes it a really compact offering by the company. This smartphone packs in 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, while it is fueled by a 64-bit octa-core SoC clocked at 1.6GHz, though Samsung did not reveal what SoC exactly are we looking at here. On the back of the Galaxy A3 (2017), you’ll be able to find a 13-megapixel snapper, while an 8-megapixel shooter is placed on the front side of this smartphone. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Galaxy A3 (2017) (and the other two Galaxy A devices), and Samsung’s custom UI is placed on top of it. The Galaxy A3 (2017) comes with a 2,350mAh battery which is not removable.
The Galaxy A5 (2017), on the other hand, sports a 5.2-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED panel, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. This handset is fueled by a 64-bit octa-core SoC running at 1.9GHz, and we don’t know what chip exactly Samsung is using here either. The Galaxy A5 (2017) features a 3,000mAh battery, and comes with fast charging, while it offers the same Android build as the Galaxy A3 (2017), including Samsung’s skin, of course. The 16-megapixel shooter is placed on both the back and front side of the device, though its rear-facing sensor is more capable than the front-facing one, of course. The Galaxy A7 (2017) actually has identical specs to the Galaxy A5 (2017), except for the fact it comes with a larger display and battery (5.7-inch panel + a 3,600mAh battery). These three devices will go on sale in some Asian markets at the end of this month, and they will launch in Europe in early February. The Galaxy A3 (2017) and Galaxy A5 (2017) are priced at €329 and €429, respectively, while we still don’t know how much will the Galaxy A7 (2017) cost.
